Billie Caldwell

Position: Communications & Board Engagement Officer
Billie Caldwell joined the Knott Foundation in 2025 as the Communications and Board Engagement Officer. Billie brings over a decade of experience in philanthropy, labor organizing, and nonprofit leadership, with a focus on strategic communications, community engagement, and equity-centered program design. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from the University of Portland and began their career as a Jesuit Volunteer in Camden, New Jersey—an experience that deeply shaped their commitment to public service. Certified in trauma-informed care and restorative practices, Billie is passionate about building communications strategies that are grounded in trust, transparency, and collective care. Their work reflects a commitment to the Jesuit tradition of accompaniment – meeting people where they are at, and walking with them toward shared liberation.  A proud Baltimore resident for over 12 years, Billie is active in the city’s civic life. You can find them volunteering with their neighbors at the lemon stick stand during Flower Mart, playing pickleball at Druid Hill Park, or entering amateur food competitions. For Billie, building community—whether through a home-cooked meal or chatting on a stoop—is both a joy and a calling.

Jessica Feldt

Position: Grants & Database Administrator

Jessica Feldt joined the Knott Foundation in 2023 as the Grants and Database Administrator. She has a master’s degree in American Studies from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in Theater from Western Michigan University. Prior to joining the Knott Foundation, Jessica worked primarily in the field of Historic Preservation. Entering the world of philanthropy has provided a rewarding opportunity to explore the issues present in communities and the organizations working to create a stronger future.

Born in northern Virginia and raised in Michigan, Jessica has lived in Baltimore since 2006 and quickly fell in love with the City. She lives with her husband, daughter, and their dog and two cats.

Kathleen McCarthy

Position: Executive Director

Kathleen McCarthy joined the Knott Foundation in 2007 and, after serving as the Foundation’s first Program Director, was appointed Executive Director in April 2025. In this role, she oversees the Foundation’s general operations, supports board development, manages grantmaking efforts, and helps guide the organization’s strategic direction.

Kathleen holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin. She has always been drawn to work at the intersection of people, purpose, and possibility. Her journey in policy and administration has taken her from a women’s micro-credit group in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to a policy think tank in Austin, Texas, and an artist’s studio in Burlington, Vermont.

Originally from New York, Kathleen has called Baltimore home for over 20 years, finding endless charm in a city that continues to surprise her. Throughout her time at the Foundation, she has built deep relationships with community partners and been continually inspired by the incredible work happening across the region.

Christina McMahon

Position: Business Manager

Christina McMahon joined the Knott Foundation in 2022 as the Business Manager. Christina holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Before joining the Knott Foundation, Christina served as the Accounting Manager at Baltimore Lab School. She is honored to bring her accounting and non-profit administration experience and passion for philanthropy to her role at the Knott Foundation.

Originally from Towson, Christina now lives in Hampden with her husband and two cats. She has a deep-rooted love for her hometown and state, and always knew she would never leave Maryland. Working to support her communities and increase opportunities for those in need feels both natural and meaningful.
