Billie Caldwell

Position: Communications & Board Engagement Officer

Billie Caldwell joined the Knott Foundation in 2025 as the Communications and Board Engagement Officer. Billie brings over a decade of experience in philanthropy, labor organizing, and nonprofit leadership, with a focus on strategic communications, community engagement, and equity-centered program design. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from the University of Portland and began their career as a Jesuit Volunteer in Camden, New Jersey—an experience that deeply shaped their commitment to public service. Certified in trauma-informed care and restorative practices, Billie is passionate about building communications strategies that are grounded in trust, transparency, and collective care. Their work reflects a commitment to the Jesuit tradition of accompaniment – meeting people where they are at, and walking with them toward shared liberation.

A proud Baltimore resident for over 12 years, Billie is active in the city’s civic life. You can find them volunteering with their neighbors at the lemon stick stand during Flower Mart, playing pickleball at Druid Hill Park, or entering amateur food competitions. For Billie, building community—whether through a home-cooked meal or chatting on a stoop—is both a joy and a calling.
